Hi, I'm Aman. I am currently a medical student at the University of Nicosia in Cyprus.

I thought I would share my experience with readers of this page, not to serve simply as a testimonial but to provide my authentic and genuine views. Since I am a former student, I believe i am in a position to inform others based on my experience and expertise, so that they can make a far more informed decision before following a similar path.

I went to high school in Uganda and studied the IB diploma course, during this time I was unsure about whether I wanted to study medicine and I was not able to prioritise my academics enough and manage my time accordingly. Due to this I went to the IFG campus in London and studied the medical foundation programme. This nine month course was essential in preparing me for medical school and also gave me time and resources to seriously understand what it meant to study medicine. This helped me be sure of my choice and prepared me to start medical school with a lot of prior knowledge that we learned in the medical foundation course.

Why I Chose the IFG Medical Foundation Programme

The reason I chose the Medical Foundation Course offered by the International Foundation Group in London, is because it had benefits that I was unable to find in other foundation courses such as their comprehensive preparation for university level academics, the one-on-one guidance in selecting the right medical school or program of study and the support in adapting to different educational systems. Another thing I found great about IFG was they are partnered with many universities all around the world which afforded IFG students to be able to have a wide variety of universities that they could progress to based on their personal preference and my future goals.
I remember a time when I needed assistance with my med school applications and meet various deadlines - the level of assistance and support I received directly from the principal really highlighted IFG's level of commitment to their students.

From Medical Foundation to Medical School: My Journey

As I previously mentioned, as a high school student I struggled a lot with time management and my priorities. IFG’s medical foundation course fully prepared me to study medicine by helping me understand the importance of time management as a student, and the importance of knowing my priorities and making sure I am working towards my goals of being a future doctor.

These skills were vital when I started my medical school program. IFG prepared me to fulfill my role as a medical student and be able to perform to my full potential. At IFG the different coursework assignments, exams, and other tasks are extremely similar to that of a University. This helped me personally because I was able to have some confidence in my work as a medical student due to the previous experience at IFG.

How the IFG Medical Foundation Course Prepared me

IFG was a great way for me to open different doors in my life that I had never really explored. I was able to network quite a lot with other students studying medicine now and other fields as well as really connect with the different professors and staff of IFG, who are all professionals in their own fields. These connections helped me with my university application as I was able to take advice from many people as well as peer review with my classmates.
The mentorship, guidance and career advice I received at IFG was a key factor in my being able to be where I am today. My time at IFG was a great factor in my being able to study medicine in a globally recognised university.

My Final Thoughts

To sum things up I am very grateful for being able to attend IFG and be a part of the IFG family. IFG has helped me thrive as an international student, find my goals, and realise my full potential. I continue to stay in touch with staff at IFG and always feel welcomed to ask for advice and help.

The medical foundation definitely helped me with the skills necessary to prepare me for medical school.
